McLaren Sleeper

The Cove's rock face in charcoal. It sits well with newer homes built in darker charcoal brick. It slots between galvanised steel posts to build a concrete sleeper retaining wall. Every sleeper is 200 mm high.

Made by Outback Sleepers in South Australia from 60 MPa concrete, with 2 x N10 reo bars in every sleeper. The sleepers are certified by a structural engineer for a 50-year life, and Outback Sleepers backs its 2 m and 2.4 m sleepers with a 20-year product warranty.

• Standard: 2000 x 200 x 75 mm, 2400 x 200 x 80 mm
• Heavy Duty: 2000 x 200 x 100 mm, 2400 x 200 x 100 mm
• Extra Heavy Duty: 2000 x 200 x 120 mm, 2400 x 200 x 130 mm
• Crib: 2000 x 100 x 100 mm, 2400 x 100 x 100 mm
• Cribs are 100 mm high, for a half-height course at the top of the wall. Outback Sleepers does not engineer its cribs, so keep them off the base of the wall.

Walls retaining more than 1.0 m, walls under a surcharge such as a driveway or fence, and walls where a fence takes the combined height over 2.1 m need engineering and development approval in SA. We can refer you to an independent structural engineer.
